Soldiers of Allah – 1924

Last night, I was surfed the web and landed on this Youtube page. Heard the song and start finding more information about this American-Islamic rap group, Soldiers of Allah. The song title I heard for the very first time was “1924″. What is 1924? What’s on that year? According to Wikipedia, the name of the album refers to the year 1924 when “Islamic state was destroyed” (see Abolishment). The album was recorded before 9/11, but it is supposed that after 9/11 the group became controversial as Islam came further into public awareness in the United States.

Vickyvette’s Into the Universe

A few days ago, I’ve wrote about Vickyvette band. And now I’d like to have a small talk about one of its song, “Into the Universe”. Why this song? What’s so special about it?

Well, this Vickyvette’s “Into the Universe” ending part is such a joy for my ear (and soul?). Is this some kind of trance? Psychedelic? Psychedelic trance (psytrance)? I’ve made a cut version of it, so listen to it first then you name it! You decide it! What’s the proper term for this kind of feelings.

Vickyvette Band, Who are They?

It’s been a long time for me not talking about music in my blog. And now, I would like to talk about a band from Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, named Vickyvette. The very first time I heard about this band was around the forth quarter last year (2010). Got the download link to their songs from one of my friend.

Wait, wait? Download link? Are they distribute their music, their hard work, their creativity, and their money (for recording, promotion, etc) for free? Or… Are you pirating their songs illegally?

Nah, I didn’t pirate their songs! They did it themselves, sharing away their songs and let everyone hear it for free. Yeah! They did it!

Why?

I got the answer from here, They distribute their music for free in order to introduce their music for the audience to hear and to receive feedback from them. And it can also be a very valuable lesson for them in the near future when the ‘real’ album is ready.

Anthurium – Cinta Tak Harus Memiliki (Video Klip)

Proyek video klip yang digarap sejak 14 Agustus 2010 hingga 13 Oktober 2010 (kurang lebih selama dua bulan) ini merupakan video klip pertama dalam rangkaian promosi musik band teman saya, Anthurium, band indie asal Palembang yang digawangi oleh Toni Rahadiyanto (lead guitar), Guntur Cakra Yudha (guitar), Musliman (vocal), Beri Chandra (bass), dan Faisal Julio (drums). Well, mungkin masih banyak kekurangan di sana-sini dalam video klip ini, harap dimaklumi, karena semua dilakukan dengan sumber daya yang sangat terbatas, namun meski begitu, kreativitas harus tetap jalan, bukan? :)

This I Love, What Should AXL Rose Tell About Love

Chinese Democracy, album terbaru Guns n’ Roses yang dilaunch pada akhir 2008 lalu seakan ingin menunjukkan bahwa the rock king not yet die, yeah, it’s their awakenings since a long… long… time no see…

I’m their fans, many of their previous songs were collected by me; tape cassette, CDs, and MP3s. Sayangnya, di album baru ini hanya Axl Rose yang tersisa. Sedangkan 4 lainnya telah digantikan generasi penerus mereka.

This I Love, lagu yang sejak pertama kali saya dengar langsung membuat jatuh hati. Slow but sure… :P Dan Axl Rose emang tokcer dalam menciptakan lagu ini. More »
